Ocean Grove homeowners could receive notices for revaluation inspections in the next few weeks, according to a Neptune Township official.
The inspections are mandated by the Monmouth County Assessment Demonstration Program and will determine "a more precise value of real estate," said Deputy Mayor Carol Rizzo, who notified property owners of the inspections by way of a statement on social media.
Inspections will be done by Realty Data Services (RDS) Monday through Saturday between 9 a.m. and dusk, Rizzo said.
RDS inspectors will carry photo identification. They will also wear shirts with the RDS logo and high visibility vests with the words "Property Inspector."
According to Rizzo, interior inspections will be done in the presence of the homeowner or other authorized adult. The process will include taking photographs of interiors and sketching structures on the property.
"Inspectors will not go through locked gates but will enter unlocked gates or fences to access the rear of the property," Rizzo said.
Inspectors will leave instructions to contact them in the event that no one is home at the time of the inspection.
