To-Do List Tuesday

Time to plan for the weekend! Not sure what to do? Here are some suggestions:

GET TICKETS to Spamalot, Monty Python's lusty skewering of the King Arthur legends, now entering its final weekend at the Spring Lake Theatre Company, 300 Madison Avenue, Spring Lake. Dates are May 21, 22, and 23. For information or  reservations, call the box office at 732-449-4530. 

TAKE a walk.

TAKE  a hike.

TAKE PICTURES!!! May is National Photography Month. Whatever you do, wherever you are, even if you're in the parlor, get out the camera. If you take pictures at one of the Monmouth County parks, you can even see if the county will include one of them in a photography exhibition at Deep Cut Gardens or the Manasquan Reservoir. PREPARE for hurricane season, which starts Tuesday, June 1.  Not sure where to begin? The National Weather Service has a site devoted to the topic here. 

EAT. And drink. Local bars and eateries took a beating during the pandemic. Some closed for good. Help your faves stay around for you by visiting on-site or ordering out. 

LIVE history. Historic Longstreet Farm  in Holmdel hosts a 19th Century Woodworking Demonstration Saturday, May 22, from noon to 3 p.m. Admission is free.  

SEE a 19th century gristmill in action at Historic Walnford in Upper Freehold Saturday and Sunday, May 22 and 23, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Free admission. Face masks are required.

TOUR the Manasquan Reservoir  by boat in a 45-minute tour narrated by Monmouth County Park System naturalists. $6/adult, $4/child age 12 and under. Call to confirm schedule. Tours leave visitor center on Windeler Road. Life jackets are required. Tickets are purchased the day of the tour only. According to the county, face coverings are required when entering and exiting the boat, and when social distancing cannot be maintained.
