1839: In Ireland, several hundred people die and about 20 percent of houses in Dublin are destroyed in a windstorm. The event will become known as the Night of the Big Wind.
1989: In India, Satwant Singh and Kehar Singh are executed for conspiracy in the October 1984 assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
2012: Twenty-six people die in a suicide bombing at a police station in Damascus, Syria.
2017: Five people die in a mass shooting at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida.
