The region is under a flash flood watch until 6 a.m. Thursday as storms move through with heavy downpours and thunderstorms. Up to half an inch of rain is possible, according to the National Weather Service.
Neptune Township Office of Emergency Management (Neptune OEM) urges drivers to use common sense on the roads.
"If a road is flooded (whether or not it's already closed), safely turn your vehicle around. DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH," Neptune OEM said by way of social media.
Officials warned that as little as 12 inches of water is enough to carry away a small car, while lesser amounts can cause "irreparable water damage."
