Iron in Manasquan's drinking water were at acceptable levels in 2016, according to the borough's Annual Drinking Water Quality Report. This is an improvement over the year before, when the iron levels were recorded above the recommended upper limit (RUL).
According to the report, the iron levels in 2015 were 500 parts per billion (ppb), 200 ppb above the RUL of 300 pp; the levels were down to 300 ppb when the water was tested in March, 2016.
Also according to the report, the borough's drinking water comes from four wells that draw from the Kirkwood-Cohansey Aquifer; all four wells tested within acceptable ranges in all categories.
