Sidewalks Are No-Bike Zones

"No Bikes" sign stenciled on Lake Avenue sidewalk in Asbury Park reminds bicyclists to ride in the street, were state and city laws require them to follow the same traffic laws for motor vehicles. Chapter 3, section 38, paragraph i of the city's police regulations states, "No person shall ride a bicycle on a sidewalk." Only toy bicycles and children's tricycles are allowed on the sidewalk. Offenders can be fined up to $50 for the first violation to up to $100 and confiscation of the bicycle for subsequent violations. (Staff/Gazette of Really Small News)
