First Day of Spring Brings Fourth Nor'easter

Spring starts at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 20. Keep the snow shovel nearby. The fourth nor'easter in a month could cover the region in four inches of snow between Tuesday night and Wednesday evening, says the National Weather Service (NWS). The wind will be 26 mph to 29 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph.

Neptune Office of Emergency Management (Neptune-OEM) expects snowfall on Wednesday to be heavy at times and to combine with gusty winds to make for hazardous travel.

"Scattered power outages are possible due to the wind and snow, as well as minor roadway flooding during high tide cycles," Neptune-OEM said in a statement.

Wind gusts could reach 50 m.p.h. along the coast, and snow amounts could reach six inches inland, Neptune-OEM said.

The NWS has issued a coastal flood watch for 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, until 5 a.m. Thursday, March 22.
