Locally, Nor'easter Causes Minor Power Outages

Fewer than 1 percent of Jersey Central Power & Light customers in Neptune Township and in Manasquan were without power as of 5:30 p.m., according to the utility's online power outage map. The outages were blamed on wind and wet, heavy snow associated with the nor'easter that battered the region on Wednesday afternoon.

In Neptune, 83 of 14, 125 customers had lost electricity, while fewer than 5 of 4,118 customers in Manasquan were affected.

In all, 10, 573 of 286,521 JCP&L customers in Monmouth County--3.75 percent--had no electricity.

There was no immediate indication of when power would be restored.
