The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory as the nor'easter named Winter Storm Riley slams the region with a wind-blown wintry mix and gusts of more than 50 mph.
The advisory is in effect until 4 a.m. Saturday.
The area is also under a coastal flood warning until 2 a.m. Sunday.
In Neptune Township, the police department tweeted a reminder to residents not to park in Concourse, South Riverside, and other places that typically flood.
"Another round of significant flooding is expected with the evening and morning high tides," the department said.
A high wind warning continues until 6 a.m. Saturday.
As of 7 p.m. Friday, 15,619 customers of Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) in Monmouth County were without power, according to the utility's online power outage map.
