County teens have a chance to help their communities in the event of a disaster by joining the new Teen CERT Explorer Post #2.
The Monmouth County Sheriff's Office, which is forming the team, will hold an information session about the group on Thursday, April 6, at 7 p.m. at the county public safety center, 2500 Kozloski Road, Freehold. The sheriff's office will oversee the team, along with the county Office of Emergency Management.
Membership is open to young adults ages 14 to 20 who live in Monmouth County.
CERT is short for Community Emergency Response Team. Members will receive national standardized training in elements of disaster response.
