Spring Lake's Brown Avenue South beach has reopened after an above-standard bacteria count closed it for two days, according to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Cooperative Coastal Monitoring Program.
The beach was closed after a water sample tested for potentially unsafe levels of Enterococci bacteria, which are found in human and animal waste.
According to the NJDEP's website, bacteria like Enterococci can enter the ocean in run-off after heavy rains.
